Electrical insulation part cutting dies

In an electrical insulation part, slots, windows, cable passages and material direction can be as functional as the outer profile. Steel-rule geometry mounted in a CNC laser-cut die board is prepared for defined parts cut from sheet insulation paper, pressboard-type sheet or technical film. The die does not establish the material's electrical rating; it reproduces the part geometry from the approved material and drawing.

Which part geometries can be assessed?

Flat insulation parts used around motors, transformers, panels and electronic assemblies may include open profiles, closed windows, narrow slots and connection holes. Scope is confirmed after the actual material and a cutting sample have been reviewed.

What should the technical drawing show?

The outer profile and internal openings should be defined as separate closed vectors. Material direction, critical holes and the assembly reference belong on the drawing. If several layers use the same outline, thickness and carrier structure should be supplied for each layer.

Where does the die's responsibility end?

The cutting die converts an approved flat material into the supplied geometry. Dielectric strength, thermal class, flame performance and regulatory compliance cannot be certified by the die. Those values must be documented by the material manufacturer or the party responsible for the product design.

1Do you select the insulation material?

No. The electrical and thermal class is specified by the party responsible for the product design; the die is prepared around that approved material.

2Can a die be made from a part sample?

A sample helps recover the geometry, but the material name, thickness, direction and critical assembly dimensions are still required.

3Does the die certify electrical compliance?

No. The die produces part geometry; dielectric and regulatory compliance belong to material and product validation.
