EVA, foam and sponge insert dies

EVA foam cutting dies:
foam insert and pocket form

For EVA and sponge, the die cuts the material without crushing it through a hardened edge and the right base. Foam density, thickness and spring-back are weighed together in the rule plan so the pocket edge comes out clean.

Where this die fits

EVA foam cutting dies are used for in-box foam inserts, device and tool pockets, luggage and case foam, and protective packaging fill. The difference from a carton insert is the material: foam needs a hardened edge and a different base than carton work.

Pocket layout, cavity depth and foam density are read together from a sample or measurements; the aim is a clean edge without crushing the material.

  • In-box foam insert and divider layer
  • Device, tool and kit pocket (recessed cavity)
  • Luggage, case and in-box foam
  • Protective packaging fill

What we check before production

Because foam springs back, the pocket edge can deform if the dimension, rule edge and base are not tuned together. So density, thickness and depth are read together.

  • Foam density, thickness and spring-back
  • Pocket/cavity edge cleanliness and depth
  • Multi-layer cutting and waste plan
  • Base, ejection rubber and rule choice

Quote information

Material type, density and thickness are the main quote inputs. If no technical drawing exists, the pocket the product sits in can be taken from a sample.

  • Technical drawing or measured sample
  • Material (EVA/sponge/PE foam), density and thickness
  • Pocket layout and quantity
  • Sheet size and deadline

Common questions

1Up to what thickness can foam be cut?

Thickness and density are assessed together. For very thick or dense foam, a double strike, a special rule height or a different base may be recommended.

2How is it different from a carton insert die?

The job is the same (a divider that sits inside the box) but the material is foam. To cut foam without crushing it, the rule type, base and ejection rubber are chosen differently.

3Can you produce a device pocket (recessed cavity) form?

Yes. The pocket the product sits in is measured or taken from a sample; the right rule is planned for edge cleanliness and depth.

Send the foam sample or device dimensions; we will plan the right rule and pocket layout for the material.
