A leather wallet cutting die is not one generic outline for a finished wallet. It is a coordinated tool set for the body panel, centre piece, banknote section, left-right card pockets, pocket liners, binding and reinforcement parts that build the approved model. Every component is assessed separately for fold direction, visible face, stitching or turn allowance and alignment with the other layers.
Which components belong in a wallet cutting-die set?
Bifold, trifold, zipped, flap and card-focused wallets do not share one component architecture. The production set contains only the approved parts required by the model; pockets that look similar are not automatically treated as identical.

Why are card pockets and banknote sections checked separately?
When card-pocket layers overlap, the entry opening, stitch line and pocket depth must work together. The die repeats only the approved flat geometry; it cannot by itself determine card access, layer build-up or assembly performance. Left-right pockets, visible edges and layer order must be explicit in the technical set.

Are the cut line, turn allowance and skiving zone the same?
No. The die creates the supplied cutting contour. Turn allowance, stitching allowance and edge-skiving zones belong to later wallet-making operations and are not added unless they are represented in the approved cut geometry. A material or folding-method change can make a direct copy of an old component unsuitable.

What should be sent for a wallet-die quote?
A separated 1:1 technical pattern set is the safest starting point. A finished wallet or photograph explains the model but does not verify every cutting dimension. Send the actual leather, synthetic-leather and lining samples together with the required quantity of each component.

1Can a cutting die be made from a finished wallet?
A finished product supports initial review, but production needs 1:1 component patterns, a physical component set or a dimensionally verified old die.
2Can one die cut every card pocket?
Only when the geometries are genuinely identical. Left-right direction, pocket depth, entry shape or layer order can require separate components.
3Can the die include stitching holes?
Dimensioned holes shown as cut features can be assessed after material and process suitability are confirmed. A stitch line is not automatically a cutting line.
4Are skiving and edge turning included?
No. This page covers steel cutting dies for flat parts. Skiving, turning, stitching and assembly are separate operations whose allowances must be supplied in the drawing.
5Do women's, men's and card wallets need separate pages?
