A shoe cutting die, press knife or footwear clicking die reproduces an approved component from leather, textile or a flat sole material whose suitability has been confirmed from a sample. Sole and upper components belong to the same shoe, but their material behaviour, geometry and left-right relationship differ. Every profile, from outsole to tongue, therefore needs its own production data.
Which footwear components can receive a cutting die?
In trainers, everyday shoes, safety footwear, boots, sandals and slippers, cut parts fall into two main systems: bottom components and upper components. The die cuts the flat components that will be assembled; it does not form the finished shoe.

What matters in a shoe-sole cutting die?
Sole cutting dies are assessed for flat sheet or slab stock such as sole board, leather board, EVA, microcellular foam or rubber-like materials after suitability has been checked from the actual sample. The outer profile, openings, heel area, direction and left-right match are reviewed together. This service does not manufacture three-dimensional injection sole moulds or metal moulds for PU, TPU or moulded rubber soles.

How are upper, lining and support parts separated?
Upper dies cover the vamp, quarter, tongue, eye-stay and collar. Lining and support dies cover internal lining, heel-counter, toe-support and reinforcement profiles. Grain and stretch direction plus left-right pairing matter in natural leather, synthetic leather and textile. What is required for a size set and quote?
One sample does not automatically define a complete size range. Each size needs an approved drawing, physical sample or customer-validated grading set. When an old knife is copied, wear on the cutting edge must be separated from the intended finished-part geometry.

Frequently asked questions
1Can you make cutting dies for shoe soles?
Yes. Outsole, midsole, insole and sockliner profiles can be assessed for suitable flat sheet or slab materials using the actual sample.
2Do you manufacture injection sole moulds?
No. This service supplies steel cutting dies for flat components, not three-dimensional PU, TPU or rubber injection sole moulds.
3Can one sample generate every shoe size?
The size range must be supplied as customer-approved drawings or samples. Unverified automatic grading is not included.
4Do upper and sole parts use the same die specification?
Not always. Material thickness, hardness, stretch, contour and press conditions differ, so every component is assessed from its own sample.
