Shoe insole and sockliner cutting dies
Shoe insole and sockliner cutting dies cut insole board, full- or half-length sockliners, heel pads and cover layers from flat material. Although these components may resemble an outsole footprint, assembly allowance, last bottom, covering material and size range differ. Inner components are therefore not treated as variants of the outsole knife.
Which components belong to the inner-bottom system?
Depending on the construction, the inner-bottom system may contain structural insole board, a visible sockliner, a soft comfort layer, heel pad and textile cover. Even when layers share an outer profile, edge allowance and material are reviewed separately.

How do insole board, sockliner and footbed differ?
Insole board is a structural component of the shoe. A sockliner covers the visible interior surface and may be fixed. A removable footbed can form a separate comfort layer. Writing only “insole” on a quote request leaves the intended component unclear.

How are layers, direction and size sets planned?
Insole board, leatherboard, textile, felt, foam and laminated surfaces can differ in thickness and direction. Left-right pair, face/reverse and size range belong on the drawing. Medical or orthopaedic performance is outside the cutting-die service; the die only reproduces an approved flat geometry.

What samples are required for a quote?
A product photograph or footwear size is insufficient. Send a 1:1 drawing or physical sample for every layer, the pre-cut material, size range and whether the component is fixed or removable inside the shoe.

Frequently asked questions
1Are a sockliner and footbed the same component?
Not always. A sockliner commonly covers the visible insole surface, while a removable footbed may be a separate comfort layer.
2Can an outsole knife be used for an insole?
Usually not directly. Assembly allowance, last bottom and material construction differ, so inner geometry is approved separately.
3Can laminated layers use one cutting die?
If the stack is cut after lamination, the complete construction is assessed; separately cut layers are reviewed from their own samples.
4Do you design orthopaedic insoles?
No. We do not provide medical or orthopaedic design; we manufacture a cutting die for customer-approved flat component geometry.
